I read with interest an IANS news report which stated that the United States (US) will transfer sophisticated laser-guided-bomb kits and drones to Pakistan to help Islamabad in its military campaign against Islamic Militants. The US hopes that this equipment will help Pakistan convert traditional munitions into smart bombs to precisely strike targets while minimising civilian casualties in its battle with militants. According to US Air Force spokeman Jeffry Glenn, Pakistan is supposed to receive 700 kits which can convert 500 pound bombs into laser-guided munitions as well as 300 kits which can be used with larger 2000 pound bombs.
 
I am really surprised to read the news report. Being an Indian I am more than shocked at no response from the Indian government. On one hand the US terms Pakistan as a failed state and had all but given Pakistan the name of a terrorist state while on the other hand in the name of helping Pakistan in the war against terror, US is going on giving latest arms & ammunition technology to them knowing very well that this will be used against India.
 
The Indian government should immediately question the US as to why it is giving military aid to Pakistan without consulting/informing India when India has given the US, UN and the world enough proof of Pakistan harbouring terrorists - like Dawood Ibrahim, Zarar Shah, Lakhvi, Hafiz Saeed and terror organisations like Al Qaida, Jamaat Ul Dawa, etc who are in some way or the other directly & indirectly connected with anti-Indian activities like Kashmir insurgency, 26/11, etc.
 
Just as US wants to be informed on all matters, even we should be consulted by the US before giving military aid as we are no longer a backward country but are a country having nuclear capability and third strongest economy in the world. Will our erstwhile Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh or President Smt. Pratibha Patil awaken from their deep slumber and do some tough talking with the US counterpart Barrack Obama?
