The step to deregulate fuel prices is a step in the right direction. Like the airline and telecom industry, free market would bring down the prices and improve quality, although this may take some time.
We cannot go on subsidizing everything from food grains to gas cylinders. Prices in India are much lower than in other countries. Those who claim that this will increase inflation don’t know what they are talking about.
Inflation can be brought down by increasing agriculture output by adopting modern methods and encouraging commercial agriculture on a large scale.
